PALM – IRAA AWARDS 2010
Commenced in 2006 as the Recording Arts (RA) awards for Music Recording, Sound Designing & Soundtrack was successfully launched by Pro Sound systems magazine (PS2), India’s only professional magazine on music production and Live Sound and the Audio Engineering Society (AES), India. The Pro Sound Systems-AES India awards were selected by leading professionals in Mumbai to recognize excellence in audio recording and sound engineering creativity. The purpose of the awards was to establish revolutionary virtue achieved by Indian music recording engineers, in meeting international quality levels and distinct features in music Production, exploiting the latest techniques in Pro Audio hardware and software. Many such luminaries like KJ Singh, Aditya Modi and the Late H Sridhar were awarded for their sheer brilliance. Talent that has been recognized globally with A.R. Rahman’s Grammy Award for ‘Jai Ho’
In 2009, the PALM team and Western India Motion Picture & Television
Sound Engineer’s Association (WIMPTSEA) organized the awards where, Mr.Subhash Ghai honored Shri N B Shah, Shri Uday Inamti, Shri Kuldeep Sud, Shri Dilip Sawant, Shri Madan Prakash and Shri Jagmohan Anand with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their distinguished services to the Indian Cinema for more than 25 years.
Now in 2010 Pro Sound Systems and PALM - IRAA is carrying forward this initiative to appreciate the esteemed technical and creative aspects contributed by leading sound recordists, music composers, music directors and recording engineers. The RA is rechristened as Indian Recording Arts Awards (IRAA).
