PALM (Pro Audio, Lighting, Music) - Indian Recording Arts Academy (IRAA) Awards

The Indian Recording Arts Academy Awards commenced in the year 2006 as the Recording Arts (RA) awards for Music Recording, Sound Designing, and Soundtrack. It was successfully launched by the Pro Sound Systems magazine (PS2), India’s only professional magazine on music production and Live Sound and the Audio Engineering  Society (AES)India. These winners were selected by leading recording professionals in Mumbai to recognize excellence in audio recording, sound engineering, sound composing and creativity.

The purpose of the Awards was to establish revolutionary virtue achieved by Indian music recording engineers, in meeting international quality levels and distinct features in music production, exploiting the latest techniques in Pro Audio hardware and software. Many such luminaries like K.J. Singh, Aditya Modi, and Late H. Sridhar were awarded for their sheer brilliance.

In 2010, Shri Hitendra Ghosh received the Lifetime Achievement award for his outstanding work in the field of Sound Effects.

In 2011, to carry the legacy forward, IRAA took the initiative of appreciating the music maestros along with the esteemed technical and creative aspects contributed by leading sound recordists. The Awards were presented on 3rd June, 2011 at PALM EXPO 2011 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. The central theme was “Passing The Legacy Forward”, hence a Veteran and Emerging Artist was recognized in each category.
